INTRO: "Last Issue for 2015..."

Dear reader,

This is our last issue... The end of an era. I have been publishing this newsletter on this site since May 2009. After more than six years with a hiatus in 2012 when I was appointed Policy Advisor in the Parliament of St. Maarten, and with the advent of mobile devices and 70% of reader using mobile devices to surf the internet, this website's content management system has become obsolete.

The theme of this last issue is about saying goodbyes with sad stories about leaving St. Barths. It will be sad day for me when I have to give up using the format on this website to promote my newsletter, my AirSXM businesses and my AirSXM websites.

In the meantime, you can read more about our eBook, our Shared Charters, our VIP Services, our Helicopter Service and our Private Jet service on our website over at

Sad Readings!

Terrance Rey

In case you are reading about AirStMaarten's private charters program for the first time, here is some background information on our shared charters.

A Shared Charter is when you book a Private Charter and you Only Pay for the Seat You Occupy. Not for the whole aircraft. AirStMaarten has been successfully organizing shared charters to St. Barths since November 2006.

Travel Agents and clients book our shared charters for seamless connections and hassle-free transfers to St. Barths and surrounding islands such as Anguilla, St. Kitts, Nevis, St. Eustatius, Antigua and Tortola.

1) If 1 or 2 people request to share a private charter, the shared charter is scheduled.
2) Once 3 or 4 people book the shared charter, the shared charter is confirmed and you are good to go!

If the shared charter is not confirmed, passengers are booked on a regular commercial flight with complimentary VIP Services to ensure their transit is smooth and hassle-free.

Visit for more information, scheduling and availabilities.

Adformercial: offers you the opportunity to book your island tours in advance to your arrival on St. Maarten, whether for the day by cruise ship, or during your vacation stay on the island. 3. ARTICLE: "Sad Stories About Leaving St. Barths"

St. Barth's Goodbyes Are Always The Hardest...

By Terrance Rey

When I was a kid growing up, the saddest song I ever heard on the radio was "Tell Laura I Love Her" by Ray Peterson.

Ever since, leaving anywhere or saying goodbye to a place I love brings back that song to my mind from the depths of my boyhood memories.

So I am sure this New Year will be the saddest time for many people leaving St. Barths like many other departures in the past as every departure from St. Barths has a hint of sadness to it. Many ease the pain by ensuring that they have already a villa for the next year reserved, the deposit paid, and thus knowing exactly when they'll be returning to St. Barths.

Some leave without knowing when they will ever return to St. Barths. LIke the sad story that occurred many years ago when a wife and her husband and their two kids, now adults, after a lovely family vacation on St. Barths, their fifth trip, but due to unfortunate "life circumstances" they were facing upon their return home, knew in her heart that this was quite possibly their last trip to their favorite place on earth. Taxiing down the runway to leave St. Barths on that dreaded morning, she literally shed tears. It was a physical pain in her heart, she wrote explaining to me.

The saddest story I read about a place in St. Barths was about Autour Du Rocher. It was the location of the first disco in St. Barths. Autour Du Rocher burned to the ground in 1991. It was the end of an era in St. Barths as well. There are many pictures of Autour Du Rocher. Below is one such photo found on Instagram, published by rob_b72 and which I republish here for the viewing pleasure of my readers. It is a photo that reminds me of the bygone days of St. Barths of old with partying deep into the late night and wee hours of the morning. The saddest part was that there was always an early morning flight that had to be taken, leaving St. Barths behind until the next time. At least, that was always the hope....

5. NEWS ITEM: " Publishes Last Newsletter Issue" Publishes Last Newsletter Issue

This will be the last AirSXM newsletter published on in this format.

In honour of this, here are the lyrics of the song "Autour Du Rocher" by Jimmy Buffett:

Mes amis nous allons quelque part dont tout le monde
Se rappelle d'un endroit ou l'herbe etait toujours verte
Et la fete ne s'arretait jamais
A autour du rocher

This a a little tale about a hotel in the Caribbean.
Well it wasn't really a hotel, it was a patio
bar with funky rooms and an outdoor disco
with bad wiring. Some people said if you looked
between the cracks of the floorboards of our
dance floor you would see Hell. If you ever
went there, you would know what I'm talking
about. If you never had, then we
thought we'd send you a little musical souvenir.

Some say it was a planet
Some say it was a rock
For five wild years in L"Orient
The party never stopped

There were pirates from the Indies
There were models from Paris
There were locals and New Yorkers
And the Brazilian Navy

By mini-moke and scooters
In cabs and stolen cars
Came the creatures of the evening
From St. Martin and from Mars

Alors, Alors, Alors, Alors alors come on, come on
Vien faire un tour autour du rocher
On croisera les fantomes du passe
Viens faire un tour autour du rocher
Sur les souvenirs l'herbe a poussee

Girl at the pool table
puts on a show for free
They were bivouacked in the bathroom
By the hot tub near the sea

Every night at midnight
Seems the devil took control
And the hill became a parking lot
Fueled by rock 'n' roll

They were talking by the cannon
But I couldn't believe my ears
The Russian had plutonium
The sailor wanted beers

They shook hands in the moonlight
And broke out a big cigar
Just business as usual
Beneath the tropic stars

Alors (come on) alors (let's go) alors
Vien faire in tour autour du rocher
On croisera les fantomes du pass'e
Viens faire un tour autour du richer
Sur les souvinirs l'herbe a poussee

It was better than a painting
At le Musee de Beaux Arts
And simply what we did for fun
Back in the old St. Barts

Then the glitz and all the glamour
Hit like a hurricane
Or maybe we just all grew up
But it never was the same

The gendarmes finally closed the joint
And the fire it did the rest
But on New Year's Eve of '91
We sang the last request

We were dancing in the ashes
We were dancing by the sea
We were dancing in the ruins
Where we left our memories

Come on let's go alors
Vien faire un tour autour du rocher
On croisera les fantomes du pass'e
Viens faire un tour autour du rocher
Sur les souvinirs l'herbe a poussee

Alors. Alors, Alors, Alors
Vien faire un tour autour du rocher
On croisera les fantomes du pass'e
Viens faire untour autour du rocher
Sur les souvenirs l'herbe a poussee
